| Comment | Some of the comments Colin wrote: '... A magnificent achievement in what can only be described as far from ideal conditions for most of the way with high winds and rough water.
Wind force 4-5, wave height 4 feet. ... Shortly after on reporting our completion to Dover Coastguard Reg was informed that the Lady Sarah a Federation Escort vessel had lost her swimmer about a mile off Calais.' The swimmer washed up 8 days later in Ostenberg, France. He was the fourth swimmer ever to die while crossing the English Channel according to the CSA. |
