Channel Swimming & Piloting Federation "Nothing great is easy", Captain Matthew Webb

04 Mar 20232023 AGM and Dinner

A wonderful CS&PF AGM and Dinner was held in Folkestone

To all CS&PF members and friends, a big thank you. Our AGM last Saturday was the best attended ever and our presentation dinner was outstandingly successful with some of those present coming from as far afield as Australia and the USA. A new chairman and three new committee members were voted into office at the AGM. A number of proposals were considered with some being approved and others being sent back for committee consideration. The food at the dinner was good; the organisation was good, thanks Michelle Toptalo; as ever Cliff Golding held it all together; the photographic display reminded us of the good times in 2022, thanks Sarah Philpott; the achievements of the award winners were recognised and applauded, including those who weren’t able to get there; and a good time was had by all. Now we look forward to another successful Channel swimming season with many more achievements and dreams brought to fruition. Good luck.

FROM THE AMAZING MICH TOPTALO:

A massive thank you to all who supported the 2023 CS&PF Annual Dinner.

It was a great evening celebrating a sport we all love.  Worthy award winners all round, from the young men of Taunton Boys School Relay swim to the record breaking Marcy – the machine – MacDonald and her record breaking Ramsgate to Belgium swim and everyone in between.

It was also great to see so many people from afar, particularly Steve and Jenni Payne who spent almost as much time in the air as they spent on the ground!

I’d like to personally thank Cliff Golding, Jade Matos Carew and Sarah Philpott for all their help.

After all the lovely comments who knows, I might just do more farewell tours that Elton John!

If you can offer any help with future dinners please email me at tickets@cspf.co.uk

And finally a big shout out to Elsa and Maddy Jones who helped with the RNLI collection.  We raised £1510.76 which the federation will match so there is a grand total of £3021.52 being donated, a fantastic effort for a great cause.

Our next Annual Dinner is booked for the 9th March 2024 so look out for details at www.cspf.co.uk later in the year.
