The sad passing away of David Frantzeskou

We recieved the sad news that David Frantzeskou had passed away.

For more than 25 years David Frantzeskou was part of the English Channel experience for thousands of swimmers and their crews, family and friends.

He and his wife Evelyn ran the Varne Ridge Channel Swim Park and were the best part of Dover during long weather delays; frantic last-minute assemblies; triumphant returns to our country flag flying from the pole; post swim celebrations and future visits to smile at our plaque, sit down for another cup of team and leave with a big hug.

One small measure of their respect was evidenced by being inducted into the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame as an Honor Organization in 2014.

Very few visited Varne Ridge just once. A relay swimmer returned as crew for a soloer, then as a soloer and then several more times as crew. David became and will always remains part of our family.
