Channel Swimming & Piloting Federation "Nothing great is easy", Captain Matthew Webb

Role of the CS&PF

The Channel Swimming and Piloting Federation assist swimmers to achieve their goal of swimming the English Channel.

We ensure all our pilots have the relevant qualifications, and that their escort boats are fully equipped and in good working order to escort swimmers across the Channel.

We ensure that all Channel aspirants have passed a medical examination, and have done a 'qualifying swim', before they are allowed to attempt their swim.

We ensure that all swims are witnessed by one of our observers. Only swims which adhere to CS&PF rules and English Channel rules will be classified as successful.
