The CS&PF has been honoured by the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame Selection Committee for induction into the Class of 2013 as an Honour Organisation.

"The IMSHOF extends its hearty congratulations to Nick Adams, Kevin Murphy and all the volunteers on the selection of the Channel Swimming & Piloting Federation as an Honour Organisation. The Hall of Fame welcomes the venerable English Channel institution as one of the truly great organisations in our sport of marathon swimming," said IMSHOF Honorary Secretary Dale Petranech.

The CS&PF name will be added to the approximately 250 of the world's greatest achievers and contributors in Marathon Swimming presently in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame. The CS&PF name will be permanently inscribed on the 'Sea Goddess' official trophy for the IMSHOF. The formal induction and recognition of the CS&PF' achievements will take place during the IMSHOF Honours ceremonies at a site and time to be determined.

Additional causes for celebration include the CS&PF President Nick Adams being nominated for induction into the IMSHOF as an 'Honour Swimmer'. Nick Adams, an eight times English Channel swimmer, is a serving member of the CS&PF and Serpentine Swimming Club. Nick has also completed many other famous swims such as the Catalina Channel, MIMS, Straits of Gibraltar, Robben Island and others.

Stalwarts of the CS&PF who are also IMSHOF members include Mike Oram, Kevin Murphy, Freda Streeter and Alison Streeter can feel pleased with the achievement, the result of many years of constant effort to improve standards and performances for the continued success of open water swimmers and their pilots.

Since 1963, the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame International Selection Committee has honoured individuals and organisations who have had a positive impact on the development of marathon swimming. The IMSHOF is a not-for-profit educational organization located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The mission of the IMSHOF is to promote the benefits and importance of swimming as a key to fitness, good health, quality of life, and the water safety of children. The IMSHOF acts as a positive act of dedication to the history, memory, and recognition of the famous swimmers, divers, water polo players, synchronized swimmers, and persons involved in life saving activities and education, throughout the world. It recognises people whose lives and accomplishments will serve to inspire, educate, and be role models for all those who participate in the Hall of Fame's experience and programmes.
