Channel Swimming & Piloting Federation "Nothing great is easy", Captain Matthew Webb

19 May 2021Sad news about Cathie Colwill

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of a much loved and respected member, and former treasurer, of the CSPF, Cathie Colwill.

Cathie was a perennial on the Dover scene for 20 years or more and, in that time, amassed an enviable portfolio of swims. These include Lake Windermere, Jersey to France, round Jersey solo swims as well as numerous relays.

The pinnacle of her achievements was on 23rd July 2010 when Lance Oram piloted her to solo Channel success in a time of 15 hours 15 minutes.

Cathie also crewed on numerous solo swims and was ever willing to help out on the beach.

At this sad time, our thoughts and condolences go to her family and friends and to the swimming family she was so fond of.
