Channel Swimming & Piloting Federation "Nothing great is easy", Captain Matthew Webb

25 Jan 2019Megan Forbes

Megan Forbes

With great sadness we have learned that Megan Forbes has died.

Her family has asked that we notify the swimming community.

Megan, from Dover, swam the channel in 2007 at the age of 16 in a time of 14:27 piloted by Lance Oram.

She was a swimmer all her life and had wanted to swim the channel since she was 12. She had already completed one-way and two-way relay Channel swims with the Eltham Swimming Club and for a number of years was Junior Champion of Champions in the British Long Distance Swimming Association event, which is held in Dover Harbour.

Those who knew her described her as extremely hard working but also making time for play. She completed Ironman Wales in 2018 and visited 12 countries in one year.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

There is no further information at the moment about funeral arrangements.
