Notes

  • The table lists 127 swim starts whereas the overall number of attempts was 132. The difference is made up of 5 2-way swims (2 solos, 1 relay, 2 unsuccessful) that count as one swim start but as two crossing attempts.
  • 2 successful 2-way solo swims account for the difference between the number of solo swim starts (44) and solo crossings (46).
  • 1 successful 2-way relay is the difference between the number of relay starts (47) and relay crossings (48).
  • On 15th September there were 8 swim starts. Out of those 2 were escorted by boats who returned after an earlier abandoned swim; therefore the number of boats out in the Channel on that day was 6.
