Change in CS&PF Office arrangements for 2017 swim season

To all CS&PF Members

At the 2016 CS&PF AGM, members approved the motion which allowed the committee to separate the Office duties to that of the Hon Sec. The amended Rules paragraph 7 (f) reads

"The Committee will have the power to delegate to and contract with one or more self-employed consultants and/or businesses to carry out (or provide supporting services in connection with) any or all of the functions stated below (or any part of a function) on such remuneration, duration and other terms as it considers appropriate in its discretion (and whether or not such delegate is a member of the Committee or the CS&PF or is interested as an owner, controller or employee of such delegate) and in so doing may commit the CS&PF to pay remuneration therefor, namely:
(i) the administrative and operational services of the CS&PF office,
(ii) the appointment, training and coordination of CS&PF observers for swim attempts,
(iii) the preparation and/or auditing of management and/or statutory financial accounts for the CS&PF or any of its operations,
(iv) legal support for the Committee or the CS&PF, and
(v) such other functions as are determined by the Committee from time to time."

In November and December 2016, the Committee exercised this right, in particular point (i) - appointment of administrative and operational services of the CS&PF Office. The Committee considered three proposals, two prepared by the members of the Committee, and one external bid by a self-employed sports administrator.

After a close vote, the Committee awarded the running of the CS&PF Office to the Seacraft team lead by Michael Oram, current CS&PF President. The agreement with Seacraft will run for the duration of the 2017 season and will be reviewed again in November 2017.

This appointment and the separation of Hon Sec and Office duties has several benefits for CS&PF members, including a significant reduction in our running costs and moving the whole swim registration process online.

On behalf of the Committee I would like express our gratitude to Kevin Murphy for the great work on running the CS&PF Office for the past six seasons and helping with the various administrative improvements. We wish the Seacraft team best of luck in 2017 and we are pleased to be able to confirm that Kevin Murphy will be working closely with them to make the transition as smooth as possible.
